Buck Lake is located between Buck Lake Road and Mahan Drive east of downtown Tallahassee. This area is just north of Upper Lake Lafayette. The neighborhoods closest to Buck Lake are Buckwood, to the east, and Meadow Hills, to the south. Meadow Hills is separated from the mall and Upper Lake Lafayette by a forest.

The easiest way to reach Buck Lake is by taking East Tennessee Street (Route 90) heading east. This is the perfect location for parents who need to work in Tallahassee, but want to raise their kids in a rural atmosphere.

Buck Lake and the surrounding areas are located within a subtropical climate. This allows the area to experience all four seasons, while the Florida panhandle only experiences two. Spring and fall are both mild and dry. Temperatures in these seasons stay close to 60 degrees fahrenheit. The leaves even change colors in the fall, which is a beautiful sight to see. Summers are the longest season. They include a humid rainy season between the months of June and July. Winters are only three months long. Winter begins in December and lasts until February. Temperatures tend to stay in the low 50’s, so snow is very rare here.

The Buck Lake Area is in the process of expanding the number of surrounding stores. The Fallschase Village Center project began introducing new big-box and small businesses for the convenience of Buck Lake residents. There are also an array of mom-and-pop grocers, pet stores, and retail options if you prefer to support local small businesses. This shopping area is located at the intersection of routes 90 and 319.

Buck Lake residents don’t need to go far for great food. There is a wide range of cuisines to choose from. Buck Lake is less than 20 minutes from the many restaurants downtown Tallahassee has to offer.

Tallahassee residents head downtown for a Saturday night out. The scene here is more casual than that of Miami and other Florida cities. Instead, the city has a smaller, more southern feel.
